Why do you train?

Friday, July 31st, 2009

I was recently asked this question and it reminded me of the time several years ago when my mentor asked me the same thing. I quickly answered him by saying that I trained in order to be strong - He was even quicker to point out that the truth of the matter was that I wasn’t strong and then demonstrated his supernatural ability to read me like a book by saying that I trained; “so u like what you see in the mirror - you train for vanity” - He was absolutely right! I was training in order to look good - now don’t get me wrong I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to look good but there are much more important and more beneficial reasons to exercise. In the days following our discussion he taught me how to “train my brain” - I learned that the mind is what we should focus on when we train - the body is merely the vehicle that takes us on the journey to optimal health although it reaps many benefits on the way. When you “train the brain” your focus and mental toughness will improve 10 fold, you will relieve stress, anxiety and depression by releasing an abundance of mood enhancing endorphins - you will develop stronger will power and the ability to manage life’s more difficult challenges with greater ease - you will sleep better and you will have an abundance of energy. For now the only place you can learn this technique is at the Power Center but in the very near future it will be available for everyone in a book and dvd series. Until then come visit us and be sure to do something for your health on the daily. Get it done!

Live The Seven

What can the Seven disciplines do for you?
Speaking from experience the 7 can do wonders - here’s a short list of some of the benefits that I myself and several others have garnered by making them a regular part of your daily routine.
Peace of mind - an over-all feeling of contentment - deeper sleep - energy, lots and lots of energy - focus - mental toughness - stress relief - physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual well being - a feeling of connection to a higher power - joy - the ability to love unconditionally
Nourish: The Chi-Force eating philosophy centers around eating as close to nature as the path to living a healthy, disease free existence.
Meditate: This discipline interrupts the daily cycle of repetitive thinking and gives the mind an opportunity to rest and revive.
Move: Its crucial to keep your body’s energy flowing. Outside of your fitness routine, activities…dance, hike, walk…keep in motion
Study: this discipline advocates the importance of learning and exploration as a means to personal growth.
Pray: Express your gratitude for life and sympathy for those less fortunate. This discipline promotes a sense of appreciation for life, while keeping our perception of suffering grounded.
Connect: reconnect with nature and the earth and its abilities to nourish every body, mind and spirit.
Serve: This discipline calls to mind the importance of making a contribution to society through charitable deeds and positive actions.
I suggest you set a goal for yourself -  give the 7 a good old fashioned try and see what happens - everyday for three weeks try and incorporate as many of the 7 as you can and experience the magic for yourself - If you have a life changing experience I’d love to hear about - shoot me an email and share your story - powercenter1@aol.com -
