Have you tried VISUALIZING?
Tuesday, August 11th, 2009In 1987 one of my football coaches at the University of Arizona introduced me to visualization. One day at practice he had me and some of my teammates sit down, close our eyes and to see ourselves being successful in “your minds eye - Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve, whether it be a game winning field goal, a 65 yard punt when your backed up on the one yard line, or even earning an A in one of your classes, play out those events in great detail over and over in your mind.” At first I thought he was losing his mind and his suggestion was ridiculous but then I learned that many professional athletes, very successful athletes used visualization as a part of their preparation. Over the years I would learn that more and more people from all walks of life use the power of the mind to help them accomplish their goals and create the life that they desire.
There’s so much to be said about the hidden potential that lies dormant inside our brains. There are many accounts of people that claim to have used visualization to cure an incurable disease, to help alleviate chronic pain, to recover from serious injury, to overcome difficult challenges, or to arrive at a place of great success. Visualization can be used to help us develop optimal health, relieve stress and anxiety, sleep better, overcome an addiction, build stronger relationships, accomplish goals, among many other wonderful things.
As with most everything in life in order for this to work for us we need to spend some time actually doing it. I try to set aside 10 to 15 minutes a day to focus on creating the images in my mind that I want to manifest into my life. May I suggest giving it a try I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. If you find it difficult to focus and you find your mind wondering that’s normal and that will happen in the beginning but stick with it and you’ll see how much easier it will eventually become and the benefits you’ll receive.
