How do you handle stress?
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010In my humble opinion I consider stress one of life’s greatest villains - stress will suck the energy right out of you if you let it - not only that but it will wreak all sorts of havoc on our physical body, our emotions, our mind’s well being, and our spirit - when our lives become burdened by the variety of circumstances that lead to this extremely uncompromising dilemma we humans can literally get stopped in our tracks - heart disease which is one of the top causes of death here in America can be directly related to stress - therefore I think it’s a matter of life or death that we learn how to manage and eliminate stress as often as possible.
For me personally, the last three months have probably been the most stressful months that I’ve experienced in a very long time - I won’t bore you with the details of my situation but the combination of a few things happening simultaneously that hit me hard and caused me, someone that hardly ever let’s stress get the better of me, some serious discomfort - the first thing I did to deal my situation was to adjust my attitude and before I started to feel sorry for myself I simply thought that things could be way worse - then I turned to my faith which always reassures me that no matter what everything will always be okay - from there it’s time to go to battle - I have no choice but to approach any stressful situation as an attack from an enemy that is attempting to take me out - and this is where many of life’s options come into play - What do I do? - Do I pop a pill? Hit the bottle? Eat a gallon of ice cream? Suck on a cancer stick? Run away? Ignore it and sink into a depression? All the above are options that get used all day every day, all of which only offer temporary relief if any at all - So for me personally knowing that the aforementioned options won’t help me remedy the situation I want to implore something a bit more effective and that’s where ChiForce and it’s Seven disciplines come to the rescue - No stress stands a chance when I: ‘Nourish’ my mind and body with clean and healthy foods - when I ‘Breathe’ deep doing Qi Gong, meditate or do a relaxation exercise - Get off my butt and ‘Move,’ get the blood and energy flowing by exercising breaking a nice sweat - When I ‘Pray’ and step outside of myself for a while - Employ a great distraction and ‘Study’ something I’m passionate about - Get outside and ‘Connect’ with nature and soak in some of God’s healing sunshine - Or ‘Serve’ someone in need - these seven easily accessible disciplines have never failed me when it comes to creating a feeling of peace, love, health and happiness - next time your life is riddled with stress give the 7 a try and see for yourself the magic they bring - I promise you it’s your best choice!
