One of the first lessons I learned after meeting my “main-mentor” out in San Jose, California was to get my bare feet onto the earth. During our initial visit I was standing next to him with my hands in my pockets. Once he noticed he forcefully insisted that I take my hands out of my pockets and went on to say with his Vietnamese accent in broken English that ” Never put your hands in your pocket - even when you cold - big problem in your country - people alway disconnect from earth - alway wearing shoe - walking on cement or wood or carpet - very important to take in energy from earth and sky - put hand to sky it work as antenna to take energy from cosmos - your feet on the earth is like root - root of tree and it take in energy from earth.”
My curious nature usually leads me to doing some investigating whenever something interesting, profound, or hard to believe is proclaimed. In this case there happens to be some very insightful information that explains in greater detail my teachers theory. I actually found that there are many benefits of getting our bare feet onto the earth. I read that science has determined that the earth itself is negatively charged while the atmosphere is positive. When we disconnect by wearing shoes all the time the body can become unbalanced with more of a positive charge. When this happens the body can become oxidized leading to the growth of free radicals which can do damage to the body on many levels. The body can start to become more and more inflamed resulting in a variety of potential health problems. So get out there and get those feet onto the earth - walk the beach - the backyard - the park - wherever it is kick those shoes off and connect to that vital energy Mother Earth is offering.
Allow me to make a small recommendation - you should never take my word on anything I say (although I do believe and practice what I preach) - I think it’s important for people to find out things for themselves - so go out there and do your own research and see for yourself whether or not what I say has any validity and/or support.
