John Nies

John Nies is a Monmouth County native, born and raised in Ocean Township. He established himself as one of the area’s most noteable athletes in 1985 as an all-state wide-receiver and the captain of the state-finalist Spartans. He took his skill to the national level after being drafted into the NFL by the Buffalo Bills out of the University of Arizona in 1990. He founded the Power Center in 2002 after studying with Grand Master MacDam, a Vietnamese doctor who transformed his understanding of physical strength and personal power. Over the last four years, he has focused all of his energy and experience into developing a new approach to fitness that’s rooted in ancient wisdom but acknowledges the benefits of modern day knowledge, a technique he refers to as East Meets West. To further his students’ understanding of the mind’s influence on the body’s overall health and well-being, he developed The Seven Disciplines™, an insightful approach to helping people find inner peace and balance while fulfillingtheir full potential. In addition to his highly regarded sports specific training program for athletes, John also specializes in helping people overcome weight challenges, substance abuse, insomnia and depression. The primary benefits of his training include increased energy level, prevention of illness, elimination of fear and anxiety, the cultivation of discipline, and the ability to stay calm during stressful situations. John currently resides in Ocean Township with his wife Michelle and their four children, Nicole, Michael, Jack and Juliet.
